Las Vegas, New Mexico Community Foundation

The Las Vegas New Mexico Community Foundation is a local philanthropic organization established in 2017 with the stated vision of Helping Las Vegas Thrive.

We also serve the surrounding communities and rural areas of San Miguel and Mora Counties.

Our office is in The Historic El Fidel Hotel at the corner of Grand and Douglas Avenues in Las Vegas.

Community foundations exist today in nearly 800 cities around the country, formed by concerned citizens to help meet the needs of our communities.  We are proud to join this tradition.

As a foundation we attempt to connect donors’ interests to nonprofits serving the critical needs of the communities in the Greater Las Vegas area.

We strive to empower all residents to shape the future yet uphold the unique qualities of this place and its people, foster and promote a healthy and thriving community, and revitalize neighborhoods and communities through social and economic development for all its residents.

As a startup organization, we were steadily increasing our ability to help people in our service area from just over $21,000 in 2018 to more than $62,000 in 2020.

Then came the Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon wildfires.  Our number of donors reached 1,400, and our grants for relief and recovery soared to nearly $1 million in the year and a half after the fires.

We are continuing our work with long term post fire recovery as well as moving forward with funding other community projects.

We look forward to working with you in the future.

Foundations

One story or one hundred stories.
One family or one thousand businesses.

No matter the building,
those that withstand the test of time,
 share one thing,
a strong foundation.

A foundation,
the base upon which dreams become reality.

A foundation,
the root of strength.
Upon which so much more can be built and used.

A foundation,
the creation of those with the vision and understanding
of the needs of today, tomorrow,
and the generations they will never see.

A community foundation,
where resources are built to better local life.
Where help is given for ideas that serve the people.
Where planning can help
build the community we all want.

No foundation can exist without
the concrete to give the idea structure.

A community foundation needs the people it serves.
They are the sources of the ideas.
The source of the dreams.
The source of the money.
The source of its very purpose.

Our town has a foundation.
What shall we build together?
