The Following is a poem written by our local Poet Laureate, Kayt C. Peck.
It was presented at the LVNMCF Resiliency Day Event on June 17th, 2023
Foundations
One story or one hundred stories.
One family or one thousand businesses.
No matter the building,
those that withstand the test of time,
share one thing,
a strong foundation.
A foundation,
the base upon which dreams become reality.
A foundation,
the root of strength.
Upon which so much more can be built and used.
A foundation,
the creation of those with the vision and understanding
of the needs of today, tomorrow,
and the generations they will never see.
A community foundation,
where resources are built to better local life.
Where help is given for ideas that serve the people.
Where planning can help build the community we all want.
No foundation can exist without
the concrete to give the idea structure.
A community foundation needs the people it serves.
They are the sources of the ideas.
The source of the dreams.
The source of the money.
The source of its very purpose.
Our town has a foundation.
